We have had a fantastic first week back after our Easter holiday. It has been wonderful to see the children come back to school with a real zest towards their learning. They have engaged amazingly well in our new topics and they should all be extremely proud of themselves.
This week in English, Year 5 have been introduced to their new book – FArTHER by Grahame Baker-Smith. The children have worked on their prediction skills, using evidence given to them, to make sensible predictions as to what the story was going to be about and are working on mastering their inference skills. In one of our lessons, the children were given a picture from the book. In their groups, they had to depict what they saw and create a dramatic re-enactment of their illustration. It was wonderful to see them working so well in their groups, showcasing their creativity.
What a brilliant start to Summer 1 and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
