Year 5 has had a terrific start to Autumn Term 2. Throughout the week, we have been impressed by how engaged and focused the students have been. In Religion this week, students learnt about Saint Francis of Assisi who was born in the 1180s in Assisi in Umbria, a central region of Italy. The Feast of St Francis is a celebration which commemorates the life of St Francis and his devotion to animals. After students had researched information about St Francis, they were able to then choose if they wanted to write a fact file, poem or news report about him. Students were also able to complete an art activity related to St Francis.
This term, students will be learning to play football as part of their P.E lessons taught by the classroom teacher. Mr Grant will be teaching gymnastics to students this term. During our lesson today, students practised passing the ball to each other, walking forward with the ball and passing forward to another player. We then played a game of football in small groups with the intention of applying the skills we had just practised.
We have started rehearsing for our Christmas Carol Concert which is less than one month away. This concert is a long-standing tradition in Year 5 and we are eager to do the best we can. Students sang beautifully today during our year level rehearsal. Everyone (including teachers) are encouraged to practise and learn the lyrics. All resources will be on Google Classroom very soon.
