This week Year 5 have been exploring characters emotions in English. The children have been reading the book ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies and have been discussing why the main character would choose to steal a handbag from an old lady. The children have been discussing themes that link to the book including poverty and desperation. The children took part in a role play activity and thought about the contrasting emotions displayed by the girl who stole the handbag and the passers by who would have witnessed it.
In their History lessons the children have been looking at reasons that the Tudor people went on journeys and have been specifically researching the voyageur ‘Walter Raleigh’. They discussed the positive and negative results of Walter Raleigh’s journeys and how it impacted Britain during the Tudor period.
