We have had an exceptionally exciting week in Year 5, with lots of great opportunities to be creative and experience things we wouldn’t usually do in our school week.
We had an entertaining visit from comic artist Kev F Sutherland. This event was part of the National Literacy Trust and The Reading Agency #GET ISLINGTON READING project. Kev’s charisma and talent had the children gripped and they created amazing pieces of artwork, using humour and drama to spin a wild and wacky narrative. Each child was given an original comic book, full of the ideas their class had come up with. Not only this, but the children had a personal caricature drawn of them that they got to take home.
On Wednesday, we had a visit from Sister Anne – a volunteer at the school and ex-religious education teacher. Sister Anne sat in on our religion lessons and helped us to create some beautiful reflective prayers on resisting temptation during lent, asking God to help us to stay focused on what is right.
Indigo class performed their assembly, with excellent reviews from teachers and parents alike. You can find a separate listing with a link to watch it online!
Lastly, both Year 5 classes took part in a super fun digital workshop about the Alpine region. The children used iPads to create adverts!
