This week Year 5 visited the Ben Kinsella Trust in Finsbury Library. During their visit the children were educated about the dangers of carrying a knife and how to make positive choices to stay safe. Furthermore, Year 5 learned about the impact of knife crime and they discussed how to make safe decisions and good friends. They were taught about the realities of prison life and the law and how it is applied to knife crime cases. The exhibition followed the journey of both the victim and the offender through a series of unique and immersive experiences. They showed Year 5 how the choices they make, and the consequences of those choices, are intrinsically linked.
As usual, the year 5 cohort behaved impeccably, showing real maturity to a serious subject – they were a real credit to the school. Throughout the day they offered insightful comments and thought carefully about the questions asked of them.
