This week the Year 5 boys took a trip to St Aloysius college to take part in two taster sessions – a Science lesson and an English lesson.
In the Science lesson the boys looked at a range of animal and plant cells and noted some of the key differences between the cells. They then drew the cells and noted some of the key features. The boys had a chance to use a microscope to analyse the cells and spoke about how a microscope works and the different parts of a microscope.
In their English lesson the boys took part in a creative writing session and discussed the type of characters and key plot points that are included within a creative writing narrative. They spoke about how a piece of creative writing might follow a certain structure and include certain plot points at different parts within the story.
It was exciting for the boys to have the chance to visit the local secondary school and get a sense of what they offered.
