Year 5 has worked hard this week, beginning their period of preparation leading up to Easter.
On Wednesday we had our Ash Wednesday mass. The children reflected on what this time of year means for Catholics and for our school. Pupil Chaplains could be found in the chapel, supporting younger students as they wrote prayers about the event. They also decided on their lenten promises for the season – hopefully they can show focus and self-restraint against the temptation to break them!
Excitingly, the Book Fair has returned this week. Year 5 had a great time picking out books or searching for books they might want to purchase next week. Children were particularly excited to use their free World Book Day voucher – entitling them to £1 to spend towards a book of their choice or one of the special £1 books on offer.
We have started our new Science topic ‘Circle of Life’, where the children will learn about the life cycles of plants and different types of animals. To begin, we searched for examples of life cycles on our school grounds. We’re so lucky to have so many great examples of life cycles right on our doorstep.
We’re excited for more fun in Year 5 next week.
