This week Year 5 visited St Aloysius playing fields to take part in a sports taster afternoon. The sessions were led by staff and pupils from St Aloysius college and involved a whole range of sports and activities! These included – volleyball, rounders, tag rugby and ultimate frisbee. The children had to use a range of skills that they had developed in their PE lessons to complete the activities. They also had to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with their teammates in order to score points and win games. The children had a great time at the playing fields and we would like to extend our thanks to the staff and pupils at St Aloysius college for running the activities.
In their Art lesson this week the children have been building bridges as part of their architecture topic. They have been sourcing and using a range of materials including cardboard and string in order to build the bridges. They have had to carefully design, plan and then build these bridges ensuring that there is enough support in the beams to hold the bridges up. The children have had to ensure the bridge is strong and stable enough to support a toy car and that the bridges will remain standing.
