We had a busy week in Year 4! We started our week with a brilliant baseball taster session with coach Stuart. We learned how to throw a ball.. baseball style! Then, we progressed on to hitting a ball using a baseball bat. After our skills were established, we put these into action in a game scenario!
To end the week, Year 4 visited the very prestigious Westminster Abbey. We took a tour around the marvellous building, taking in the different parts such as the Coronation Chair, Poets’ Corner, The Quire, The Lady Chapel, and many others. We connected our trip to the work we have been conducting in our religion lessons and understanding along the way what a pilgrimage is and why it happens. We even stopped to say a prayer as the priest welcomed St Joseph’s School to the Abbey. Additionally, we noticed some famous names who had memorials in the Abbey and people we had researched in our Highgate Cemetery Topic such as George Eliot (also known as Mary Ann Cross) and Michael Faraday!
We then enjoyed having our lunch in the sunshine at St James Park, whilst taking in some of the sights London has to offer including passing downing street, royal guards, horses and Big Ben!
