This week in Year 4, we had a very informative workshop in connection to our Geography topic: Rivers and the Water Cycle. We looked at how the river environment has changed over time and how pollution and other human actions can impact and pose a danger to living things. We also explored the different ways food and goods can be transported with different types of ships. We then took a closer look into the River Thames whilst engaging with key Geographical vocabulary and understanding where the source, mouth and tributaries are on a large map. This linked closely with the work we have currently been completing in our geography lessons!
We were then spoilt with a further talk from our very own Mrs Roberts, who shared her knowledge and the treasures she has found whilst mudlarking along the River Thames! We investigated the items and placed them in order of when we thought they were made. Different time periods included: The Tudor & Stuart, Roman, Georgian & Victorian and Medieval times! Lots of interesting finds and stories, thank you Mrs Roberts!
