In Science this week we conducted an experiment to explore what happens to our teeth when we consume certain liquids. To do this we used eggs.
Why?
Because eggs contain a certain amount of calcium and would represent our teeth accurately in the experiment.
We used water, milk and Coca-Cola and placed an egg in each cup. We then made predictions of what we thought would happen and waited a few days to observe the outcomes. We noticed the egg in water did not change much at all and discussed the reasons being, that water can be very healthy and does not contain harmful chemicals. We did notice the eggshell that was soaked in milk went slightly darker and noted that milk can be very good for us, however, a noticeable difference was evident.
Finally, for the Coca-cola experiment, we observed the BIGGEST change! The egg went a much darker shade and we discussed the reasons for this and then how we can keep our teeth clean and healthy.
We also had our Christmas party!! We enjoyed lots of treats, games, movies and other fun-filled activities!
