A busy week to end this half term in Year 4!
We began our week with a harmonious Prayer Service, the children read beautiful and thought-provoking prayers. The Prayer Service focused on the theme of Racial Justice in connection with Racial Justice Sunday, which takes place on 11th February. We celebrated our diversity and acknowledged that unfortunately, there is still injustice in our world, but we have the power to make a difference. We remember that no matter what race, gender, or faith we are, we are all equal and part of God’s family.
We also enjoyed a Volcano and Earthquake Day. We began by making our volcanoes explode – which included two different types. We had stratovolcanoes using: Vinegar, bicarbonate soda and food colouring dye. Then, we also made Gizer volcanoes using Coca-Cola and Mentos! After this, we explored the VR headsets, which allowed us to imagine we were looking at a live volcano! We also used the VR headsets to envision what it could be like to live through an earthquake. We previously learned about the safety precautions countries take when these natural events occur.
Lastly, we were treated to a spectacular poetry afternoon which included our beautiful choir! Mr Hogan did a fantastic job presenting the event and the participants…. JUST WOW!! The poetry that the children recited was PHENOMENAL! The way they delivered their lines, clearly and confidently. The way they expressed the poetry to a huge audience was unbelievable and should be immensely proud of their efforts, well done to all!
