This week, we ventured to the woodland area to meet Sophia for our environmental session! We had some great discussions about nature and wildlife, especially bees! The children knew lots of fantastic information and understood that if was not for bees then our ecosystem would collapse and we would not exist! With that in mind, Sophia gave us lots of sunflower and wildflower seeds to plant at home which will provide the bees with pollen! Additionally, Sophia presented us with a small hazelnut tree to plant on our school grounds. We placed our gloves on, picked up a trowel and dug a hole deep enough for the tree. We can then enjoy watching it grow over the next few months and years! We also explored the tadpoles we have in our pond and even managed to find some of the frogs too!
In English, we took our learning outdoors (when we had the sunshine!) and explored our new book ‘The Lost Happy Endings’. We read different extracts from the book, participated in role-play about what we thought was happening, and then wrote down key vocabulary using our senses! We also read our new book to see if the predictions that we made last week were correct.. some of us were very close!
Next week we welcome all our wonderful parents to our assemblies at 9.15 am on:
Blue Class: Wednesday 8th May
Sapphire Class: Friday 10th May
