This Thursday and Friday, our school joyfully launched the Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope. The two-day celebration was a vibrant and reflective journey that brought our school community together in faith, creativity and learning. On Thursday, we began the Jubilee by attending a special Mass at St. Joseph’s. The atmosphere was filled with unity as everyone wore their house colours—red, blue, yellow and green—representing the vibrant hues of the Jubilee logo. The Mass provided a beautiful opportunity for us to reflect on its symbolism and the messages of hope it conveyed.
Afterwards, the children delved into creative expression, designing their own symbols of hope. Inspired by the themes of unity and faith, they crafted ideas such as lighthouses guiding the way, hearts connected by bridges, rainbows signifying peace and flowers blooming with promise. Each creation reflected the children’s unique interpretation of hope and their aspirations for the future.
Friday began with an educational exploration of religious pilgrimages. The children researched various pilgrimage traditions and created fact-files, delving into their historical, cultural and spiritual significance. From the Camino de Santiago to the Lourdes grotto, they learned about the journeys that have inspired millions across generations. In the afternoon, creativity took centre stage again as the children made 3D dioramas reflecting the theme of hope. Some focused on nature, depicting scenes of forests, oceans, and flowers as symbols of renewal and growth. Others built models of churches, including detailed recreations of pilgrimage sites like the Lourdes grotto.
The Jubilee 2025 launch was a heart-warming celebration of faith, hope and creativity. It reminded us of the importance of coming together as a community to reflect, learn and inspire one another. Through Mass, art, research and collaboration, the children have begun their pilgrimage of hope—a journey we are all excited to continue throughout the Jubilee year. We look forward to seeing how these reflections grow and inspire further acts of faith and hope in our school community!
The children also took part in an environmental lesson with Miss Sophia, where they explored the importance of caring for our natural world. As part of this session, they participated in the RSPB’s Big Bird Watch 2025, observing and recording the birds in our local area. This activity tied beautifully into the theme of hope, emphasising the role of nature in fostering renewal and harmony.
