Year 4 had a wonderful Local History Week learning about Kenwood House.
We began the week with some artwork, using a jigsaw technique to create an image of Kenwood House. The boys and girls enjoyed recreating their images and piecing them together to see a fantastic whole-class end product.
Then we learnt about the amazing historical figure, Dido Belle. The children researched Dido and created brilliant factfiles with all the information they gathered. In English this week we focused on instructional writing and used our creative ideas to make recipes for a potion which would send us back in time to the 18th century; becoming Dido Belle or Lord Mansfield. We used our knowledge of Kenwood House to help us.
Thursday was World Book Day and we had a blast. Everyone dressed up and taught us a lot about their historical figure. The children made presentations of their characters and then presented the information to their year group.
