This week in Year 4, our RE and PSHE lessons were filled with deep discussions, creative activities and meaningful reflections. The children explored two significant parables from the Bible: The Parable of the Prodigal Son and The Parable of the Sheep and Goats.
- The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) taught the children about forgiveness, redemption and the unconditional love of God. Through discussions and activities, they reflected on how we can show forgiveness in our daily lives and understand the joy of reconciliation.
- The Parable of the Sheep and Goats (Matthew 25:31-46) focused on the importance of kindness, compassion and serving others. The children explored ways they can help those in need and be a source of light in their communities.
These stories helped the children develop a deeper understanding of Christian values and how they can apply them in their relationships with others.
In PSHE, we focused on the theme of loving relationships. The children explored what it means to build strong, positive and caring relationships with family, friends and the wider community. They discussed the importance of love, respect, and kindness in all relationships and reflected on how they can show these values in their daily interactions. As part of their learning, the children also delved into the concept of the Holy Trinity – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They explored how this divine relationship is a model of perfect love and unity. To deepen their understanding, they created their own Trinity Shields, illustrating the three aspects of God and their significance.
