This morning, the Year 4 children performed a Harvest Celebration titled “Thank You for the Harvest,” where they expressed gratitude for the food we eat and the work that goes into growing it. The assembly featured a range of characters, including narrators, farmers, gardeners, animals, fruits and vegetables, pizza ingredients and helpers, all played by the children.
The performance began with an opening prayer, thanking God for the harvest, followed by a series of scenes. The farmers talked about their hard work planting and harvesting crops, while the animals, shared the gifts they provide like milk, eggs and wool. The gardeners spoke about the fruits and vegetables they grow, emphasising the importance of tending the earth.
In a fun twist, the children acting as pizza ingredients explained how ingredients like flour, tomatoes, cheese and basil come from different parts of the world, highlighting the global nature of food. Helpers then reminded the audience of the importance of sharing food with those in need.
Throughout the celebration, the children performed several songs, including “Grateful,” “It’s Harvest Time” and “Sing A Song for Harvest.” The program also included a Bible reading from John’s Gospel, reflecting on the spiritual significance of the harvest. The assembly ended with a closing prayer of thanks and a message about sharing blessings with others. Thank you for being a wonderful audience! We hope you all enjoyed the celebration!
