This week in Year 4, our pupils had a fantastic time in PE, focusing on developing their skills in changing direction and speed while dribbling in football. The lesson objective was to help them learn how to accelerate out of a change of direction into space—an essential skill in many sports! Socially, we emphasised the importance of showing respect towards others during games. The pupils worked together, supporting each other and celebrating each other’s successes. Emotionally, integrity was at the forefront as we encouraged the children to play honestly and fairly, sticking to the rules of the game. This helped them understand the value of good sportsmanship. Children also made decisions about which type of turn to use while dribbling. This encouraged critical thinking as they assessed their environment and adapted their strategies accordingly.
In addition to our PE activities, we also dove into Current Affairs again this week. The children began writing their first drafts of presidential election speeches, aiming to convince us why they would be great presidents. It’s been exciting to see their creativity shine as they explore important issues and articulate their ideas.
On Wednesday, Year 4 enjoyed a lovely visit to the library, where pupils got to hear a story and read their new books outside in the sunshine. It was a perfect opportunity for them to relax with their books while soaking up the fresh air, and they really appreciated the chance to connect with stories in such a delightful setting.
