This week in Year 4, we turned into budding scientists and geographers as we began our exciting ‘Water Cycle in a Bag’ investigation! Each group created their own mini water cycle using a clear plastic bag, some water, and a marker pen. We carefully labelled the stages – evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection – and then stuck our bags to the classroom windows where they can catch the sunlight.
We talked about how the sun heats the water, turning it into water vapour (evaporation), which then cools and forms droplets on the inside of the bag (condensation). As more water gathers, it begins to drip down again, just like rain (precipitation)! The children were amazed to see how this simple model helps us understand what happens in nature every day. Over the next week, we’ll be observing the changes carefully and making notes about what we see. The children are looking forward to discovering how temperature and sunlight affect the process and seeing the complete water cycle take place right before their eyes.

Today we attended Mass for the first Friday of the month. Sapphire Class attended St Joseph’s Church, while Blue Class went to St Gabriel’s Church. The children listened carefully to today’s Gospel, John 16:1–8, and afterwards wrote thoughtful reflections about its meaning and how it connects to their own lives. In Mass, the priests discussed the importance of the month of November, when we remember our loved ones who have died. The children recognised All Souls’ Day as a special time to pray for those who have died and to remember them with love and gratitude.
We are so proud of how Year 4 represented our school community, showing our mission in action through their thoughtful participation and reflection. Thank you St Gabriel’s and St Joseph’s for welcoming us and helping to make this a special and meaningful experience for our pupils.
