This week we prepared our very own disaster plans for the event of an earthquake. We identified some top tips, planned survival strategies and practised the earthquake drill – drop, cover and hold on! Hopefully we will never have to use these!
As part of our Geography topic we have also been thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of living in the vicinity of a volcano. At first it seemed strange to think of why people prefer to live in these areas, but after some great discussions we were able to find some great positives, such as fertile volcanic soil and geothermal energy!
This week the children have also continued their exploration of circuits, using paper clips to understand the function of a switch. It was interesting to consider which materials conduct electricity in order to find out which would be appropriate for a switch.
It has been a great week and we hope you have a lovely weekend.
Miss Gormley and Mr Hannigan.
