This week in Year 4 we have been conducting extensive research and then presented our findings in Geography. We have been focusing on some of the major rivers in the UK such as: the River Thames, River Severn, River Trent, River Mersey and the River Bann.
Then, we explored some notable floods that have occurred in our world, we investigated the causes of the floods and how they occur. We also discovered there are positive and negative impacts of a flood! We often think of the negatives when hearing about flooding however, we now know there are many benefits which help agriculture and replenishing water sources such as aquifers. Some of the floods we looked into included: The River Nile in Egypt, The Mississippi flooding in the USA, Hurricane Katrina, the Yellow River in China and The Bangladesh Monsoon.
We also had a visit from two elves in Year 4, who caused some mischief in our classrooms!
