This week Year 4 spent time learning about Blessed Carlo Acutis, a modern role model of faith for young people. The children were inspired by his deep love for the Eucharist and his devotion to the Rosary, which he called his “ladder to heaven.” We explored how Carlo used his talents, especially his skills with computers, to spread the message of God’s love and to teach others about the miracles of the Eucharist. The class discussed how faith can be lived out in the modern world, just like Carlo did, and how prayer can help us grow closer to God.
Today, Year 4 led their own ‘Celebration of the Word’. This is a liturgy carried out every Friday in class, focused on one of our Catholic Social Teaching Principles. The children prepared for the celebration by planning the five stages: Welcome, Word, Worship, Witness, and Evaluation. This provided an opportunity for the children to share their own reflections, prayers, and actions in response to the Gospel message. It was a meaningful time for the class to come together in faith, take ownership of their spiritual growth, and express how they can live out Catholic values in their daily lives.
