Wow – what an incredible experience Year 4 had today visiting the Arsenal stadium. As a reward for taking part in the mini marathon, the children were invited to visit The Emirates for a tour, ‘keeping active’ lesson and mini football tournament.
We began the day with a ‘daily mile’ around the Emirates stadium!
On the tour we were able to see where the players entered the stadium and had the opportunity to sit in the home changing room! The children also enjoyed going to the Diamond lounge, where they could view the pitch from the same perspective as ex-players and owners. We were lucky enough to see some trophies and cups which the team have collated over the years too!
In our ‘keeping active’ lesson the children learnt about the importance of looking after their bodies and thought of some different ways to do this. They learnt about the lifestyle changes of some famous celebrities and thought about how they have set a positive example for others. Then, the children were tasked with making a poster to encourage people to become more active. They used pictures, symbols and positive quotes about keeping active, to motivate others.
Then inspired by the Arsenal players, the children had the opportunity to play in their own football tournament. They really brought their A game and impressed the coaches with their skills!
We had a brilliant day at the stadium – maybe some of our talents Year 4’s will be back as players some day!
