We were so happy to be back in school this week for the beginning of our Summer term. We’ve jumped straight into our new topics and the children are already working hard.
In English this week we have been reading our new book ‘The Journey’ which follows the journey of a family escaping war in their country and becoming refugees. We have been discussing the mood the writer creates and the effect this has on the reader. This book has very interesting illustrations which personify the various parts of the journey, so today we decided to bring these illustrations to life.
The children created their own freeze frames and took pictures to put in a PicCollage. Then they added metaphors to emphasise the mood each picture created. Their results were brilliant; we have some budding actors on our hands in Year 4.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Gormley and Mr Hannigan.
