What a fantastic and full week we’ve had in Year 4 following our return from our exciting residential trip to the Gordon Brown Centre! In Maths, we have launched into our new topic of money. The children have been busy exploring coins and notes, solving real-life problems, and building their confidence in handling different amounts. In English, we reflected on our wonderful time at the outdoor centre by writing diary entries recounting our trip. The children wrote thoughtfully and creatively, capturing their favourite moments and memories from the experience.
In RE, we have been deepening our understanding of Peter, the rock of the Church. We studied the moment Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom and described him as the rock on which the Church would be built. We made exciting links to the role of the Pope today, even watching clips of Pope Leo XIV stepping out onto the central balcony of St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. This is where Popes are introduced to the world and where they give special blessings. To enrich our learning, we came together for a special Celebration of the Word focused on this theme, which gave us time to reflect on how we can be strong and faithful in our own lives.
Today, in our Caritas lesson, we turned our attention to the Catholic Social Teaching theme of the Dignity of Workers. The children created powerful posters illustrating examples of fair work and unfair working conditions, showing great empathy and understanding about why everyone deserves to work in safe and just conditions. Finally, a huge congratulations to Sapphire Class for winning the Attendance Trophy this week for their fantastic attendance last week — well done!
