In Year 3 Science, our current topic is Rocks, Soil and Fossils. This week, pupils became scientists on a mission as they ventured around the school grounds to investigate the many ways rocks are used in everyday life.
Armed with curiosity and sharp observation skills, the children discovered that rocks are all around us—not just beneath our feet. From bricks and paving stones to the gravel on pathways, and even the pebbles in the flower beds, pupils were amazed at how many different things are made of rock.
This activity helped us think carefully about the properties of different rocks, such as whether they are hard or soft, rough or smooth, and how these qualities make them useful in building and construction.
Year 3 are well on their way to becoming rock detectives!
