This week, Year 2 had an incredibly exciting time as they welcomed a special visitor—an experienced birdman who came to share fascinating stories about hawks and barn owls. The children listened eagerly, their eyes wide with wonder as he explained the different types of birds and their habitats. The birdman demonstrated how hawks are powerful hunters, while barn owls are known for their silent flight and exceptional hearing. The experience was truly amazing, leaving the students inspired to learn more about wildlife and nature.
In R.E., the Year 2 children engaged in a captivating activity where they acted out the restoration of Zechariah’s voice. They learned about the important moment when the angel Gabriel visited Zechariah to announce that he and his wife, Elizabeth, would soon have a son. At first, Zechariah did not believe the angel’s message and, as a result, he lost his voice until his son was born and named John. The children discovered that John the Baptist had a special purpose in life; he dedicated his time to encouraging people to confess their sins and be baptised. In a significant event, he even baptised Jesus, setting a powerful example for all followers.
To conclude the week, Year 2 also participated in an advent assembly today, where they reflected on the meaning of Advent and prepared for the celebration of Christmas. The assembly was filled with songs, stories, and lots of smiles, making it a perfect way to end a fantastic week.
