On Wednesday this week, the Year 2s attended an engaging art workshop at Lauderdale House along with pupils from Channing School.
To start of the day, the children were taught about some art techniques such as shading, crosshatching and drawing things in perspective. They then went outside to practice these skills whilst drawing still life sketches. Many children drew a fountain, people doing yoga as well as bushes, trees and flowers.
Following this, they worked collaboratively to recreate sections of a larger photo print. After they had finished, the individual pieces were put together and the final product could be clearly seen.
Later in the day, the children went outdoors once more to have a go at some rubbings. They made use of nature all around them to make rubbings of leaves and bark. They really managed to capture various different textures on offer.
For the next four weeks, the Year 2s will be continuing this nature-themed art project at Channing School and we simply can’t wait to see all of the beautiful artworks our children produce!
