Earlier this week, we were treated to a very special author visit, thanks to Mrs Rooney. She invited Helen Peters into our school to talk about her books and the inspiration behind them. She informed the children that she grew up on an old-fashioned farm in Sussex, surrounded by family, animals and mud. She spent most of her childhood reading stories and putting on plays in a tumbledown shed that she and her friends turned into a theatre. After university, she became an English and Drama teacher. The children were very inspired by and interested in her journey as a writer. Some of the Year 2 children purchased a selection of her books such as ‘A Llama Called Lightning’, ‘A Goat Called Willow’ and ‘A Piglet Called Truffle’. They were very pleased to see that she had even personally signed their books as an extra-special treat!
A big congratulations to Diamond class who had 100% attendance this week! They proudly displayed the golden attendance cup in class all week!
Finally, well done to all of our Year 2s who completed their SATs in Maths, SPaG and Reading this week. The children worked to the best of their ability and have made everyone very proud! Well done!
