This week, Year 1 participated in an engaging virtual workshop titled “Wild Eco Builders,” organised by the Institute of Imagination. The children embraced their creativity by designing various cities tailored for different animal species. After selecting their animals, they carefully considered their unique characteristics and engaged in discussions about the essential features these cities should have before diving into the creative process.
Additionally, we welcomed Alan the Birdman to our school, who provided fascinating insights into various hawks and barn owls. He explained their dietary habits and hunting techniques. The children were captivated as they observed the birds flying gracefully around the hall and were amazed to see them return to Alan’s hand on command.
Finally, we had our class assemblies! Our assemblies were all about toys in connection with our history topic. Throughout the topic we looked at differences and similarities between now and our grandparents era of the 1950s.
We read our lines clearly and confidently and sang beautifully! You all did an amazing job! Some of the wonderful comments left by our brilliant parents included:
“Super happy, well done all. Bless you all”
“Amazing and interesting to hear about the history of toys!”
“Fantastic!! You should all be so proud of yourselves!!”
“Everyone sang so wonderfully and said their lines so clearly, it was lovely to watch. Well done!”
