A thrilling week in Year 1! We celebrated World Book Day this week with the theme being WORDS! We had to dress up as a word of our choice and some of the words in Year 1 included:
Princess, sleepy, astronaut, baker, sporty, wizard, explorer, ringmaster and sparkle to name a few!
The children also came in with their favourite book and this sparked some lovely conversations around reading and how it important it is!
We also took part in a variety of activities, one of our favourites included reading with the Year 3 children. This was a brilliant way to share our reading skills and to help each other! It was a great way to connect with other year groups and share our love for reading! We also took part in a whole school World Book Day Quiz which was hosted by Miss Nicholson & Miss Duffy. This was SUPER fun and included questions from books we have learned about in class as well as some general knowledge questions! A huge well done to Lacey-May, Sebastian and Isaac who were part of the winning teams from Year 1.
We also went to St Joseph’s church to celebrate Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the Lenten period leading up to Easter. It was a lovely service with beautiful hymns and prayers and a joyous way to start our day with all those in our community.
