During this week in year 1, our focus has been on sentence structure. We introduced nouns and adjectives, and the students created some wonderful sentences that included capital letters, finger spacing, and punctuation. Additionally, we learned how to connect two sentences using the word ‘and’.
In Maths, we wrapped up our unit on place value and numbers, and we will begin exploring addition and subtraction next week.
In Religion, we discussed Pope Francis’ letter: Laudato Si, which outlines ways to care for our common home. We took a walk around the school to identify actions we could take to improve our community. We shared ideas such as properly disposing of litter, planting flowers with Miss Sophia, turning the lights off when we are not in the rooms and caring for local wildlife.
In Science, we continued our study of different body parts, specifically focusing on the hands and feet this week. We examined their differences and similarities and labelled the main parts together.
