This week, Year 1 explored the concept of the Holy Spirit in Religion lessons. Students identified the symbols associated with the Holy Spirit from the Gospel stories and traditional artworks. Students then incorporated these into their own works, in which they applied images of doves, clouds, wind, and tongues of fire to express their understanding of the Holy Spirit. Look how wonderful these look!
In Science, students began to explore the idea of composting. Students went out to the school’s composting bins and identified some of the minibeasts that play a crucial role in breaking down organic material – millipedes, slugs, worms, and woodlice. The children had so much fun going out and exploring underneath bits of wood, the compost bins, and the dirt to try and observe these little critters in action! What a great week of learning in Year 1!
