We have made it through our first week of 2025 and what a week we have had!
In English, we delved into our new book: The Secret of Black Rock. We began making predictions about the book, inferring some information about what we can see in illustrations and then explored new vocabulary. Words included: glimpse, mysterious, translucent and outsmart.
On Monday, it was the Christian Feast Day: Epiphany. We took some time to explore the story of the Epiphany and what this meant, we know this is a special day for Christians as we celebrate the star leading the Three Wise Men to baby Jesus. We ordered and then retold the story.
Some of our children from both classes also held Prayer and Liturgy and shared the story of Joseph’s Colourful Coat. We learned how Joseph’s brothers were jealous of him for being given a nice coat. This opened up a discussion about how we feel when our brothers, sisters or friends get things that we don’t have. We talked about assembly and how we have to feel happy for others and celebrate them. We can’t always want what others have.
Our History lesson saw us look into the world of explorers and understand what they are and what they have done. We will be diving into what certain explorers have discovered over the next few weeks.
In Art, we were exploring primary colours and experimented with the three primary colours: blue, red and yellow to see what other colours we could make.
A huge thank you for our gifts from the Amazon Christmas Wishlist! The children were excited to open them and even more excited to use some of the generous gifts, thank you!!
