It’s been a VERY busy week in Reception with lots of exciting events taking place.
Last week our caterpillars arrived and ever since, the children have enjoyed observing them grow and change. The children have been using all their new knowledge from our “Minibeasts & Megabeasts” topic to describe what they can see. Each morning they have run into class to see whether the caterpillars have began to spin their chrysalises and the children can’t wait to watch them become butterflies.
On Wednesday, Reception had their lesson with our Environment Tutor – Miss Ioannou. The children shared their knowledge of woodlands and all the plants and trees that they may find there. Miss Ioannou explained we had been given a very special gift of tree saplings and that we had the incredibly important job of planting these. Each child had the chance to plant a tree which we will be able to watch grow for many years to come.
Next, we had our fantastic World Book Day! This year our theme was “words” and the children came to school dressed as a word. The teachers were so impressed with the children’s outfits; we had footballers, mermaids, princesses, bears and lots more. Throughout the day the children had lots of fun taking part in activities about books and sharing our class favourite stories.
Our final event of the week was our Mother’s Day Breakfast. We invited all the very important ladies in our lives to join us for a well-deserved treat. The children surprised their special guests with a song about how much they love them. There were lots of smiles, cuddles and laughs as everyone shared their delicious breakfast together. Thank you to everyone who attended.
