Each of the classes in Year 6 spent a productive day getting to grips with ‘virtual learning’. Using devices most similar to those they would use at home, the children spent an entire day learning and communicating through our sharing platform, Seesaw.
Initially, Miss Horne and Miss Slattery took the children through, step-by-step, the process of finding, accessing, completing, sharing and reviewing their learning. Children then completed all their tasks independently, choosing the most appropriate chilli challenge for them and asking for extra clarification where needed via Seesaw.
They quickly learnt that finding the perfect pace is key! We discussed and practised how best to use ‘spare’ time once a specific task had been completed e.g. mindful colouring, word searches, art skills, reading, board games, exercise, educational websites.
Children also learnt the importance of responding to feedback given by their teacher on their work, in order to stretch and consolidate their learning most effectively.
So….should there be any need for us to complete home learning again, we are very ready!
