We welcomed The Worshipful the Mayor of Islington to St Joseph’s in July.
He came to launch the
SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
The children gave him a standing ovation as he walked through the school on his way to our library.
The Mayor was very impressed with our library, which is at the heart of the school and provides an inspiring and calm place for our children to read. He particularly liked our cosy book nook under-the-stairs with cushions galore. Perfect to escape into a book!
The children gave his Worship a guided tour or our library and found out that his favourite book is ‘Oliver Twist’.
The Mayor spoke to the children about the importance of reading and to keep reading over the Summer.
The Mayor will be back this Autumn to award the SUMMER READING CHALLENGE certificates and gold medals.
