In the last week of term, the children of Year 1 celebrated Black History month by cooking plantain chips which they all found delicious!! It also gave the children a chance to learn about famous black men and women. The children were required to take part in a treasure hunt around the grounds of the school to find all 8 famous men and women for Black History Month. Year 1 also had the opportunity to move between Year 2 classrooms to try their hand at dancing and creative art.
In English, children were once again hooked by the story of the swamp monster hidden somewhere in the school. They were on hand to lure him by creating scrumptious swamp smoothies and a map of the school to trace his whereabouts.
