Today, we took part in the launch of the Daily Mile. The aim of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing of all children. This is an initiative that is taking place across the school, from Nursery to Year 6, with the hope of getting children more active and enabling them to become more focused on learning activities. To mark the beginning of the Daily Mile, we put on our running trainers and joined forces with our Nursery buddies who were all set in their ‘outdoor shoes’ to start our physical activity. The children went out to the Year 5/6 playground and walked, jogged and if they were feeling ambitious, ran around a set route. We began with a few laps with the aim of getting fitter and being able to complete more and more as time goes on. The children really enjoyed taking part in the launch of the initiative and were excited to complete the laps of the playground. It was lovely to see them interacting with and communicating with their Nursery buddies, looking after and supporting them every step of the way. The competition for the most laps run in the school is well and truly on and Year 6 are certainly eager to win!
