Over the past few weeks Year 1 have been learning all about the Arctic and Antarctic in our topic ‘Poles Apart’. Last week we were weather reporters all the way from Antarctica, discussing it’s climate and what you might need to wear if you visited the continent. It looks like the children brought the weather back with them over the weekend! We had lots of exciting stories to share about how we spent our snow days, so year one put their writing skills to work. We came up with some sentences with amazing adjectives to describe how our days went. Have a look below at Tomasso and Christian’s work:
We continue the week exploring the text ‘The Little Polar Bear’ by Hans de Beer.
Lars goes missing in the Arctic so the children created some missing posters to help Lars’ parents to find him. They also used their senses to describe the setting of the Arctic. I think we have gone adjective mad this week in Year 1! Here is some work from August, Brielle, Herani, Edmund and Ailbe
In Art and Design this week we learned all about the Northern lights which can be seen in the Arctic circle. We watched a video and thought about how it looked like aliens were whizzing through the sky, a magician doing magic in space and an airplane full of paint exploding in the sky.
We created our own pictures of the Northern Lights- look at how beautiful they are!
Amazing work Anya, Oliver and Justin!
