Thursday brought about the biggest and most exciting day in the sporting calendar….Sports Day! Wearing their house colours, the children walked down to Aloysius playing fields excited about what was awaiting them. Year 6 began their field events by racing in the ‘Bat and Ball Slalom Relay’, making their way around all of the stations including: Tug of War, Over and Under and Javelin Throw… just to name a few! The emphasis of the day was on teamwork and collaboration, with the houses, not individuals, gaining points on each station. Having re-energised themselves at lunchtime, the children made their way over to the track for some more racing.
It was the sprint races first and all of the races were extremely competitive…Usain Bolt had better watch out! Unfortunately, as the sprint races came to a finish, the rain intervened; meaning that the children couldn’t complete anymore of the track events.
It was a fantastic day for all of the children and teachers to be a part of and the children, as they always do, displayed wonderful sportsmanship throughout, despite showing a will to win. Well done!
