This week,
This half term, EYFS, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 have been learning all about animals, how they eat and how they have adapted to their environments, so they were extremely lucky to have Alan the Birdman visit with his birds of prey this week.
Alan brought in a range of birds including: a barn owl (named Sparky), a harris hawk (named Sybil) and a barbary falcon (named Basil). Alan gave a range of talks to the children, ranging from what the birds eat and how they hunt to how the birds have adapted to their environments and how they digest their food. We saw the birds flying around the hall and we were astonished when we saw them fly back to Alan’s hand with a simple command!
Most importantly, Alan always finished his talks with a reminder to care for the animals and how important it is to look after our planet so animals like Sparky, Basil and Sybil, and many more, can continue to thrive on this planet that God created, which is a wonderful link to our CST – Care for Creation.
Thank you to Alan and, of course, the birds!
