This week, the Reception classes went on a trip to The London Transport Museum, this was a fantastic opportunity to explore all the types of transport we have been learning about this term. We started our journey walking to Archway tube station and then we caught an underground train to Leicester Square. The children noted and were excited to talk all about the sights, sounds and smells of the underground. When we arrived at the station, we made our way along the cobble paths of Covent Garden to the museum. At the museum, we began our day with an educational ‘Build a Bus’ workshop. We learnt all about buses from decades ago including the very first omnibus. Giorgi, Jacob, Juliette and Joshua from Red class as well as Bendeguz, Riley, Matys and Tafari from Ruby class role played being on the omnibus. We then sang a song and explored the various old ticket machines. Following this, we role played being bus designers and used the Mobilo to design and build our very own buses. The children were very engaged during this activity and enjoyed sharing their designs with the group. After our session, we had some time to explore the various museum displays. We enjoyed collecting the stamps for each exhibit we saw. Following lunch, we made our way back to school on the tube. The children demonstrated excellent listening skills on this trip and were able to follow the rules to keep safe on our busy journey. Thank you to all the mums and dads were assisted us in this trip, we could not have done it without you!
