This week in Reception, we explored our school prayer. We first of all started with the sign of the cross and shared how this starts and ends a prayer. We repeated each line and also came up with some actions to help us remember the words. We discussed how important it is to be kind to everyone in our school and in our lives. We then decorated some crosses creatively and traced the words Amen.
We also discussed our Golden Rules, which will help keep us safe and provide a happy and caring classroom! Some rules included:
– being respectful
– sharing toys
– push our chairs in
– keep each other safe
We also took part in our Celebration of the Word, two of our children from each class led the prayers. In one of the classes we passed around a bowl of water and made the sign of the cross and then we discussed how we have to care for God’s world, one of our missions was to pick up 3 pieces of litter to help care for God’s creation!
