Our focus text in Reception this week has been ‘I can eat a Rainbow’. The children have enjoyed taking part in lots of activities based upon fruits and vegetables from each of the colours of the rainbow. We have discussed our favourite fruits and vegetables and had lots of opportunities to draw these and write about them. The children particularly enjoyed role playing eating their favourite foods with picnics in our outdoor area and cooking up delicious meals in the mud kitchen.
Reception also put their computing skills to the test as they used the computer program ‘Busy Things’ to create a pictogram to show our favourite vegetables in Reception. It was a tight competition between broccoli and sweet corn but sweetcorn came out on top!
In RE, we have been learning about the events of Pentecost. The children listened carefully to the story and we discussed how the disciples must have felt. The children used role play to show how Jesus’ friends felt following the big gust of wind and the flames above their heads.
Red Class were very lucky to go on a trip to Pizza Express. They listened to the chef as they explained how they could make their own pizza. The children did a fantastic job of rolling the base and adding the toppings and the best part came when they could taste their hard work. Ruby Class are really looking forward to their trip to Pizza Express after hearing how wonderful the experience was.
