This week in Reception we have been learning all about firefighters and how they help keep us safe. We remembered what happens when the fire alarm goes off and practiced standing smart and straight like a firefighter. In our small world the children helped to put the fire out and rescue the cat from the tree.
We talked about how firefighters need to know where they are going and how maps can help them. We looked on the map and found our school, the church and the tube station. Children then worked together to make their own city, we started by decorating buildings such as a hospital, schools and homes. After trying different ways to make them stay together we decided the glue gun was best so everyone learnt how to use this safely.
We took our phonics learning outside to put out the fires when the adult called the sound.
