Reception have started the new term off with a blast! This week we started our new theme, “Space”. The children have been immersed in different Space themed activities and have really enjoyed using their imaginations as they role play in our class Space Stations.
On Tuesday afternoon, when the children went back into class after lunch, they discovered a rocket had crashed landed! The rocket was broken into pieces so the children worked as a team to quickly put it back into one piece. In amongst the mess of the crash, there was a letter with a heading saying “Help!” The children quickly realised that someone was in trouble and needed our help. The letter explained that Blob, an alien from outer space, rocket had crashed and he had decided to go exploring Earth whilst he tried to get back to his own planet. He left us in charge of taking care of his alien babies and with some missions to help him get back home.
The children quickly set upon finding clues about where Blob could be and asking other people in the school if they had seen him too. Hopefully we will help Blob find his way home soon!
The children visited our Class Space Stations over the week, to complete the Space Missions left by Blob. These missions included creating posters explaining all about the planet Earth, making name rockets and designing our own astronaut uniforms. As they complete each of the tasks set for them, the children returned to the Space Station to tick off their mission sheets and were very proud to complete them all.
What an amazing start to the term, Reception. Well done!
