The children in Reception have enjoyed listening to the book ‘The Gruffalo’, they know lots of the words and join in with the story. Some children made their own Gruffalo using playdough and lots of different craft resources, or painted a character from the story. Some children even challenged themselves to write a sentence about the Gruffalo.
In math’s we have been learning about different shapes, particularly looking at squares and rectangles. Everyone was very good at spotting these in the classroom! We then used the square and rectangle shaped Lego to print some pictures, and practiced drawing and cutting our different shapes to make Christmas themed shape pictures and rectangle robots.
Lots of children have been asking how to draw a tree so as part of our literacy lesson we completed a guided drawing of a tree, everyone listened and watched the instruction very well and created some lovely art work!
