Reception’s busy week began with Local History Week. Our focus was the story of Dick Whittington. The children were set the task of looking out for the statues of Dick Whittington’s cat on their journey to and from school. We read the story and retold it using our own masks!
We observed Shrove Tuesday by learning about why it is tradition to eat pancakes. Of course, we enjoyed pancakes ourselves!
The following day, we observed Ash Wednesday. The older pupil chaplains came to deliver the ashes to Reception.
On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day! We dressed as historical figures – Cleopatra, Dick Whittington and Mary Seacole to name but a few.
The week concluded with a special, very delicate delivery. Real life caterpillars! We are looking forward to seeing what happens to our caterpillars and will be learning all about them in our Minibeasts and Megabeasts topic.
Finally, an update on the final figure for donations raised from our cake sale last week:
£237
INCREDIBLE! Thank you again for your generous donations to Shelter.
