Today the children went outside for some outdoor learning.
They explored the environments that different plants live in.
They looked in class at plants in the desert, rain forest and Mediterranean before exploring what plants live in ponds! (Our school pond).
The children then created their own pond plant. They discussed how plants are adapted for the different environments they live in.
They suggested that:
-Plants need to protect themselves from herbivores that may eat them and also poor weather. (They may have long stems and strong roots)
-They discussed that the leaves needed a larger surface area so they could absorb more sunlight to photosynthesise. Also they should be waxy so they are waterproof .
-Please ask them to see what other ideas they came up with…
